Aaaaa I dunno. I got tired of guys having no idea why girls find female superhero’s costumes kinda sexist, so I, um, made this?

My main goals were: 1) Make it so the first thing you think of when you look at them is sex, whether you want to or not. 2) make it so that any male human who looks at this feels really uncomfortable. 3) make it funny, because, well, it’s kinda hilarious really.

-Females are not the target demographic of comics. Not to say they can’t or shouldn’t read them, but.

-What exactly is wrong with women being attractive? I do not understand the argument (quite possibly because the argument being made 100% irrational). Maybe if they were in like high heels or something I’d agree with you, but they aren’t and you are wrong.

 Really though. Superheroes are ripped and huge. When boys see that they think they should be too. I’ll also add that this was made with the intention of showing sexism and the males are depicted as overly muscular. In an industry marketed to males and more or less made for males, why even attempt to change it? Marvel and DC do not give a shit about feminism and will continue to have attractive women in their comics. Get over it, and fix your shitty fucking double standard before you try say anything about something you probably picked up because you’re a “nerd”(see: trendy asshole).

I think the word you’re looking for is fictional, but comics are absolutely real. I mean what, when you read comics do you think they’re a figment of your imagination? Yes, the events they describe didn’t really happen and the people in them aren’t walking around in real life, but they are very real. You’re reading a story, a world created by someone, to be seen and thought about by someone else. The people and events were created to inspire reactions and feelings, that’s why they were made. when you read a comic, whether it’s silly or dark or romantic or what have you, you’re reading a message, and messages are very real.

Okay, maybe a lot of superhero comics nowadays are aimed at men, maybe you’re right on this one, but you really shouldn’t be. Stories shouldn’t be aimed so exclusively, in my opinion, especially on something as stupid and vague as gender. Also, just because somethings not aimed at a certain demographic, doesn’t give it the right to exploit it. besides, just seems like bad business to me alienating half of your potential consumers. create stories and provide depictions both men and women will enjoy and BOOM, just doubled you profits. You’re welcome.

THERE IS ABSO-FUCKING-LUTELY NOTHING WRONG WITH WOMEN BEING ATTRACTIVE, THE PROBLEM COMES WITH THEM BEING WALKING SEX TOYS. I have a bone to pick with this argument. There is a very big difference between attractive women and physics defying, spine crushing, practically naked male fantasies. And don’t give me any crap about how they’re “empowered” or “sexually liberated” or that they can “wear what they want”. They don’t wear what they want, they wear what the men who write/draw them want. I’m not even touching the high heels issue.

Hey dude, muscles are sexy, it depends on how those muscles are being displayed that decides whether they’re a power fantasy or a sexual one.

P.S. (not directed towards you dickwad) I just wanna address one thing in my original commentary: when I said make all male humans who see it uncomfortable I really could have worded it better. I meant uncomfortable by way of gender indignity, which is why I get uncomfortable. I wasn’t trying to get men to think “Ew half-naked men, das gross DX” sooo… sorry about that.

I do.

I get the point of bad art. Too many artists not understanding/caring about basic anatomy wind up outputting total crap. For women characters, their adbomens are way too small, their boob’s are so larger that they would throw out their backs in real life. For men, their shoulders and boobs are larger than their heads.

I get that this is about sex. Show enough skin, some bawdy posing, and it’s sexy – not the effect one neccesarily wants when fighting crime or saving the earth.

I do feel uncomfortable! I feel uncomfortable because you’ve either just removed all gay men from the dialog or made the assumtion that men — gay or straight or transgendered — are the same. For the record: we are not.

Good art, by the way. Should you ever venture into making a sexy-boy cape comic, it would probably do very well. I would certainly back a kickstarter project that wasn’t cis privileged if the art was this good.

I just wanted to say I’m sorry about that, that wasn’t what I was going for. The thing is I was thinking about gay & trans men too when I said that. You see I wanted to make men feel uncomfortable seeing this for the same reason I feel uncomfortable looking at overly sexualized women in comics/games: Not based on whether I’m attracted to them or not, but because they make me feel like my entire gender should just be there to be oggled at. It doesn’t happen a lot, but it happens enough. So i was trying to go for gender indignity here, not sexuality. Sorry I didn’t get that across (:>

I also get that not all men are the same so… yeah i guess I fucked up on that one too. Sorry!

Next, I’d also like to thank everyone who’s arguing, I guess this is a little controversial and while i wasn’t doing this with the intent to piss anyone off, i guess it would be hard not to. I appreciate the differing opinions. Argue on, you brave people, just remember to cite your sources.

third, regarding my goals, from the feedback I guess the first two didn’t work out so well, darn. But the third one seems to be a success so I’m satisfied.

Now to elaborate a bit more, I’m not saying all female superhero costumes are like this, and even the ones that are can be fantastic. I’m actually a fan of powergirl’s boob window. YOU GO POWERGIRL. I just don’t like it when their sexy costume and weird poses completely overshadow their character to the point where they’re walking softcore porn. Something that generally doesn’t happen with male superheros.

Now, for the people who don’t make sense to me.

To the person who reblogged it than said it was the most boring thing you’d ever seen. …why did you reblog it then?
